My first knitting project

I had decided around Thanksgiving that I wanted to learn how to knit. I tried knitting in high school and did ok at it, but I didn't stick with it and never made anything. I got the idea into my head again because I decided I needed more hobbies besides just reading and jogging (the two big ones). Luckily I have several friends who know how to knit, so they helped out, showed me how to get started, and fixed my mistakes. These leg warmers were my first project; I just finished them last week. The yarn is 100% wool and came multicolored. I found it at a cute little knitting store on 14th street and 1st avenue. I'm going to either make arm warmers or a skinny belt next.

I've found knitting to be incredibly meditative. More than I expected it to be. It's easy to get lost in and I find my thoughts and worries disappearing once I get into it. It's very rewarding to see myself creating something slowly, something that I'm making with my hands.
